Organised Crime, Corruption and Politicians in Mexico

Episode Summary

Nowadays, news from Mexico almost always involve some sort of narco squabble between a myriad of groups that remain nearly indistinguishable to the general public. Not so long ago, the Mexican landscape of drug traffickers was very different. While these groups existed, they did so under the cover of a much more stable regime. A partisan dictatorship who engaged in collusion on every level and granted them deals that paradoxically lead to a more peaceful sphere. This all changed in the year 2000, but as Claudia Pfeifer Cruz describes in her thesis, many facets of these relationships have yet to be discovered. Follow this perilous research, on this episode of ABD stories.
